The Teen Project

Overview

The Teen Project is a non-profit helping teens and young adults access substance abuse rehabilitation. They needed a mobile app to help facility owners manage beds, reservations, and day-to-day operations — and a team who could own the entire mobile product end to end. That's where we came in.

The challenge

There was no mobile engineering foundation in place — no CI/CD, no GitHub workflows, no Jira processes, and a cloud setup that was costing far more than it should. The app needed to be production-grade, maintainable, and extensible by a team with no prior mobile experience.

The solution

We stepped in to own the mobile product, building the React Native app from the ground up while establishing the engineering infrastructure around it. We set up GitHub workflows and branch protection, configured CI/CD pipelines for automated builds and deployments, and restructured the cloud architecture to eliminate wasteful spend. Throughout, we documented and mentored the client's team so the work stays maintainable long after any single release.

Engineering infrastructure from zero

Before we joined, there were no formal engineering processes. We introduced GitHub workflows with branch protection and PR reviews, set up Jira for sprint planning, and built a CI/CD pipeline that automated builds, tests, and deployments — giving the team confidence to ship without fear.
